Our Staff

Jan "Buck" Schafer
President

Jan started Buck’s in 1986 as an auto collision center, but by the early 90’s with his strong ambition and passion for snowmobiling, Jan converted the business into a power sports dealership and repair shop. Jan’s hobbies include snowmobiling, boating, and collecting and restoring vintage snowmobiles.

Gloria Schafer
Office Manager

Gloria began in 1986, along with Jan, in the early stages of Buck’s Motorsports. She has been a key element in the growth and development of the business. Gloria manages the office and handles consumer financing.

Laura Schafer
F&I Manager

Laura has been with Buck’s since 1999. She is currently attending Alfred University and plans to graduate in 2011 with a BA in Accounting, and then continue on to get her masters degree. Her goal is to take over Bucks Motorsports and continue building up what her parents created. Laura's hobbies include horseback riding, snowmobiling, and ATVing. She also loves vintage cars; especially mustangs.

Sarah Schafer
Apparel Manager

Sarah is currently a student at Akron High School and plans on pursuing a career in law. She's been working at Buck's since 2000. Along with her managerial duties, she is responsible for writing the scripts used in our radio ads, and also takes care of sales on e-bay. Her hobbies include snowmobiling, driving the Can-Am Spyder, hanging out with friends, and taking her Ford Mustang down to Lancaster Speedway for Wednesday night drag racing.

Bob Conti
Sales Manager

Bob joined Team Bucks in 2008. He has been in the car business for over fifteen years. His true passions however, are snowmobiling and riding his motorcycle. He has been a biker for over thirty years, and he's been hitting the trail on Ski-Doos for over thirteen years.

Mike Schifferle
Service Manager

Mike has been with Buck’s since 1999. Also known as "Mr. Mike", he is highly skilled, and a platinum certified technician for Ski-Doo and Can-Am. He also has certification for Kohler Engine repair. He is an enthusiastic snowmobiler and long-time collector of rare, vintage snowmobiles.

Adam Kokot
Parts Manager

Adam joined the staff here at Buck's in 2008. He recently graduated from Ohio Technical College's powersports program. He has a strong passion for motorcycles, especially his 1958 Harley Davidson. In his spare time, Adam also enjoys working on his vintage Ford Mustang.

Bill Hawley
Parts Specialist

Bill started at Buck's in 2008 as part of our parts staff. He is an avid motorcyclist and has joined the Buck's Team to help support his "motorcycle addiction". Bill has served on both regional and state levels for motorcycle clubs and has written columns for motorcycle newsletters. He has over fifteen years of experience in the big rig truck industry with parts, service, and warranty. Bill has been a big Triumph fan all his life, and even owned a '73 Triumph Tiger. Other than work and motorcycles, Bill enjoys spending time with his family and his dogs; he has always had a dog for the past 50 years!

Bill Hirsch
Performance Specialist

Bill joined Team Bucks just in time for the 2008 snowmobile season! Bill is from a family-owned Ski-Doo and Can-Am dealership which he helped run for over 25 years. You can find him in multiple areas of our dealership. Ski-Doo is one of Bill's passions. He is going to bring his snowmobile knowledge to our service, parts, and sales departments. Most importantly, Bill is going to get our performance department up and running. Want a little more out of your sled? Bill is your guy! Bill also works for Comair as a First Officer, flying a Canidar Bombardier Regional Jet.

Noel Hastrich
Office Clerk

Noel started at Buck's in December 2007. Her hobbies include spending time with her family, listening to music and going to concerts. She also enjoys going to car shows with her husband in their 1995 Thunderbird show car. Her pride and joy are her three adorable cats.

Francis "Butch" Cassidy
Technician

Butch joined the Buck’s Team in 1998. He has been working with Ski-Doo snowmobiles since the early 60’s and has been riding and racing Triumph Motorcycles since the 1950s. Butch’s earlier days were spent enduro bike racing and oval track snowmobile racing, but now enjoys sharing laughs with us here at Buck’s.

Frankie Brucker
Service Technician

Frankie has been riding ATVs and dirt bikes since he was very young. He is a graduate of Akron High School and also of Boces School of Mechanics. He did an internship here at Buck's as a requirment for his degree in service, and we were so impressed with him that we had to have him on our team. I don't know about you, but Frank is the only person I know who is capable of picking up an unwanted lawn mower on the side of the road and working on the engine so well that he has actually been clocked on it at 55 mph! Now that's impressive.

Abby Chadsey
Detail Specialist

Abby joined Team Buck's in June of 2008. She is currently a student at Akron High School. After high school she plans to continue her education and become an engineer. Abby loves riding her dirt bike and ATVs in her free time.

Jake
Head of Security

Jake has been head of security since 1999. He takes great pride in guarding the lunch table during break-hour. He most enjoys his job when the UPS driver and some of the sales reps and customers bring him treats to share with his partners, Toby & Hunter.

Toby
Assistant in Security

Toby joined forces with Jake in 2002. Together they take routine surveillance walks of the premises and make sure the floor in the lunchroom is always spotless.

Hunter
Secondary Assistant in Security

Hunter is the newest Addition to Team Buck's. He joined Jake and Toby here in Feburary 2008. He's still learning the ropes, and is usually more trouble than he is otherwise, so he's lucky he's so cute!
